[edit] Dietary Recommendations

Probably the biggest problem with most dietary recommendations, is that they typically assume that all consumers are average. The trouble, of course, is the average person is anything but average. Consequently, the recommendations below are just that, recommendations. And as such may need a little adjustment. Still, if you follow the recommendation you should be somewhere in the ballpark of whatever your actual individual requirements happen to be.

  • Five or more daily servings of fruits and vegetables
  • Six or more daily servings of grain products. The more whole grain the better.
  • Include fat-free dairy products
  • Select fats and oils with two grams or less of saturated fat per tablespoon.
  • Try to avoid saturated fats, cholesterol, and especially trans fats.
